What's so special about waterside living?

15th January, 2019, by Steve Parker ANAEA

The Yacht Club, Riverside boasts 81 waterside apartments and they’re selling out…fast! One of the development’s first buyers, Ian Wellesley-Harding, knew he wanted a penthouse by the river, but didn’t quite know where…

“I knew I wanted to be on the same railway line as Bedford – where I have lived for the last 25 years – and somewhere that was conveniently located for commuting to my job in London. I’m also planning on retiring in the next few years, so needed to consider a location that had enough going on to keep me busy!

“After some research, I found The Yacht Club, Riverside and I thought to myself: what’s going on in Nottingham?

“There are three things that are important to me – sport, culture and flying fixed wing aircrafts, which all factored into my decision-making process when purchasing a home.

“Nottingham ticks the sports box – The Yacht Club is within walking distance of the rugby club, Trent Bridge cricket ground and Colwick race course; I don’t think it would be possible to find a better location to live for a sports enthusiast.

“In terms of culture – I love classical music, the opera, ballet and theatre and the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall and Nottingham Playhouse show productions as good as anything you could see in the capital. You’re really spoiled for choice here.

“I’m also currently learning to fly a fixed wing aircraft at Cranfield and am determined to get my private pilot’s licence. Nottingham having an airfield is a massive plus for me and, with it being only four miles from the Yacht Club, it couldn’t be more convenient.

“By this point, Nottingham was dawning on me as a good place to be so started seriously looking at the Yacht Club and that’s when I discovered the penthouse.

“I was blown away by the outside space – I’ve never seen an apartment with a 1,000 sq ft terrace; so I knew I would have to move quickly to snap it up as the ideal next, and hopefully last, move. I couldn’t resist the high spec, underfloor heating and onsite gym either – and designated undercover parking was also a real bonus.

“At the Yacht Club you’ve got everything you could possibly want from waterside living:

  • The views are spectacular
  • The flood plains opposite mean that nothing will be built there – so the beautiful views will never be compromised
  • It’s a quiet location, but close enough to the city

“I got quite excited by the whole thing and decided to buy the apartment next door too, to rent out, house guests or live in myself if I decide to downsize. Steve and Natasha have been fantastic throughout the entire process and I can’t thank them enough for all of their help. The development is going to be absolutely amazing – it ticks all of the boxes and I can’t wait to move in!”
