A Weekend In West Bridgford

Considering moving to West Bridgford and want to know more about the local amenities? Still in the process of settling in to the area and want to know how to spend your weekend? Well, we’ve got you well and truly covered. A stone’s throw from Nottingham city centre, West Bridgford has plenty to offer, including a wide variety of restaurants and bars. We have chosen some of our top spots for Friday date night, Sunday roast and everything in between.

Friday date night – Cote Brasserie

This Friday date night, bring the romance of Paris to your table at Cote Brasserie. The up-market eatery serves authentic French fair inspired by the bistros and brasseries of Paris. From French Onion Soup to Steak Frites, you can expect classics made from good quality, well-sourced ingredients. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, take a look at the monthly specials. Top tip: leave room for dessert.

Saturday Brunch – Holy Calzone

We don’t know how we spent Saturday mornings before the ever-popular brunch trend. Holy Calzone is a Pizza place by night but offers one of West Bridgford’s most extensive brunch menus from 9am-2pm every single Saturday. Their American style pancakes to suit your sweet or savoury tooth never disappoint. There’s avocado toast for the instagrammer and a Full English for the hungover. Holy Calzone is well priced but is cash only, so come prepared.

Saturday Night Tapas – Escabeche

Tapas is all about sharing, which makes West Bridgford’s slice of Barcelona a perfect Saturday night social spot. Having opened its doors almost a decade ago, the Spanish spirit of Escabeche has continually impressed foodies across Nottingham. The main menu is extensive, and we think you could spend hours here working your way through it, which is encouraged! What sets Escabeche apart from other restaurants, is it’s carefully curated vegan menu which boasts baresca falafel and tempura asparagus amongst it’s offerings. For a restaurant with vibrancy and passion for really great food, you need to experience Escabeche.

Saturday Drinks – Botanist

An evening at the Botanist is designed to test your tastebuds, using a diverse profile of ingredients from decadent tropical flavours, to herbs you can grow in your own back garden. Carefully curated cocktails with unusual flavour combinations take centre stage but twists on classic drinks such as an english gin mojito and a strawberry bellini are also crowd pleasers. For an evening to remember, master the art of decadent cocktail making with a Botanist masterclass or check the website for a schedule of live music events.

Sunday Roast – Poppy and Pint

Poppy & Pint is a longstanding favourite in Nottingham. Offering a warm welcoming atmosphere, fantastic food and friendly staff, it’s the perfect Sunday spot to unwind. An exhaustive list of local and national ales accompanies crowd pleasing food and on a Sunday, we think their roast is one of the best around.

Pre-match pint – SouthBank

West Bridgford is the proud home to Nottingham’s sporting royalty, the Nottingham Forest City Ground, Notts County Football Club and the Nottingham County Cricket Club are all right on West Bridgford’s doorstep. There’s only one place to go before a match, The Southbank Bar – Trent Bridge. Famous for its warm hospitality, live sports coverage and live music it’s certainly the spot to toast your favorite team. Additionally you can get 30% off food and drinks with your FHP Privilege Card.

Family Italian – Carluccio

Nothing beats a good Italian feed and Carluccio’s has just the fix. Serving flavorsome dishes like Swordfish Friggitelli along with classics like Spaghetti Carbonara they have something for everyone.
